A look busy screen is better when it is still useful

Slow moments happen at work. A static fake spreadsheet can fill the screen, but it stops being useful the moment you want to read an article, check a public discussion, or watch a video. FakeWorking starts with the content you actually want and changes the work context around it.

How the look busy website works

Choose the content first, then the work screen around it. No account, extension, or download is required.

  1. 1

    Choose something useful to open

Start with a public YouTube video, public Reddit community or post, or a readable public news or Wikipedia page.

  2. 2

Match the work screen to your role

Choose Excel for finance and operations, Word for writing and research, VS Code for development, or Outlook for general office work.

  3. 3

Use the content inside the disguise

Read supported articles and public Reddit discussions inside the workspace, or keep a YouTube meeting beside the document or spreadsheet already on your screen.

  4. 4

    Keep the Esc cover ready

For web and Reddit workspaces, Esc switches to a safe work screen when the browser has focus; press Esc again to return. For the floating YouTube meeting, Esc closes the meeting window.

Excel for finance and operations

Place list-heavy research inside a spreadsheet-style workspace and switch to a believable budget sheet with Esc.

Word for writing and research

Read a public article as a clean document with a familiar ribbon, page canvas, and status bar.

VS Code for developers

Display technical reading as notes inside an editor-shaped workspace instead of a general news tab.

Outlook for general office work

Browse available public Reddit posts or article summaries through an inbox-like layout.

Questions people ask before trying it

What is a look busy website?

It is a website that presents content inside a work-like screen. FakeWorking uses functional Word, Excel, VS Code, Outlook, and meeting-style views instead of relying only on a static fake spreadsheet.

Is the screen just a picture?

No. Supported public articles and Reddit pages remain readable, available links can be opened inside the workspace, and the YouTube option uses a resizable meeting window.

Is FakeWorking free?

Yes. The current tool is free to use and does not require an account, download, or browser extension.

Does the look busy screen work on mobile?

The pages adapt to smaller screens, but the detailed desktop-workspace layouts and floating YouTube meeting are most useful on a larger display. The custom meeting requires a supported desktop Chrome or Edge browser over HTTPS.

What does the Esc key do?

In web and Reddit workspaces, Esc toggles a safe work screen while the browser has focus. In the floating YouTube meeting, Esc closes that meeting window.
